Where Great Meets Greater

On behalf of the members of the Beta Lambda Sigma-Raleigh Alumnae Chapter, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to our website!

The Beta Lambda Sigma Chapter was chartered December 10, 1949 by seven educators and has diligently served the Wake County Community for over 67 years. It is the mission of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority to enhance the quality of life for women and their families in the U.S. and globally through community service. Our goal is to achieve greater progress in the areas of:

• Education

• Healthcare

• Leadership Development

Our members, affiliates, staff and community partners work to create and support initiatives that align with our vision.

Beta Lambda Sigma is a warm, progressive and growing chapter. Our membership has tripled since 2014 and consists of many different generations and professions. We are leaders in the sorority, our careers and community. This breadth and depth of experience is a source of pride. In keeping with our motto “Greater Service, Greater Progress” we approach every touch point within our community with a goal to provide stellar service that will bring GREATER impact to our community.

At Beta Lambda Sigma Chapter, we are our sister’s keeper! If you are a member of our amazing sisterhood and want to reconnect or looking for a chapter home, I extend a warm invitation to have you join us at a chapter meeting, community service program or chapter event. Please browse our site and visit us here often to learn more about the Beta Lambda Sigma Chapter.

Welcome to the online home of the Capital City Sorors of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated in Raleigh, North Carolina! As the Anti-Basileus of the Beta Lambda Sigma Chapter, I have the awesome responsibility of leading and executing our membership development strategy. This is an honor of which I am very proud to lead as growth is essential to sustain our chapter’s strategic plan to service the Raleigh community.

Our community is at critical mass. Now more than ever, the collective effort of every Sigma woman is needed to address the growing complexities of our community. From childhood hunger and diseases to breast health and breast cancer survivorship, we are called to be a beacon light to all in need. To heed this call, it is imperative that we increase our reach within the community.

In 2014, Beta Lambda Sigma launched the Capital City 22 Campaign with a goal to reclaim 22 members. This goal included the promise of a progressive chapter, excellence in programming, stronger community partnerships, and efficient use of member resources. At the close of sorority calendar year of 2016 we exceeded our campaign goal by reactivating 30 Members, inducting 18 New Members and achieving a 100% retention rate for our chapter.

Looking for a chapter home? Are you ready to make a “Sigma Impact” in the community? Beta Lambda Sigma is ready to welcome you! Visiting members are welcome to join us at any chapter meeting. Meetings are held the first Saturday of each month at the Junior League of Raleigh Center for Community Leadership. Please email us at anti-basileus@raleighsgrho.org for more details. You may also find information about reactivation on our international website.

Sigma women are approachable and welcome the opportunity to answer your questions about membership. New membership is extended by invitation only. Interested women are encouraged to attend an informational meeting. Criteria for membership can be found on our international website.

Please take some time to browse our site and learn more about Beta Lambda Sigma Chapter. We invite you to come back to visit us often as our page is under construction. In the near future you will be able to interact with our page and sign up to volunteer with us in the community. Thank you for allowing the Beta Lambda Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to continue to provide “Greater Service – Greater Progress” in the Capital City!
